Mojave National Preserve

Total Miles Covered: 1,142 mi.

Six years ago I sold my Jeep, and pretty much regretted from the day one. So couple of month ago I found one for sale and bought it.

2010 Jeep Wrangler....trail ready.

I did couple small trail runs around the house, to shake all the loose bolts, test the suspension and drive-line. Everything seems to be in order, so for the three day weekend I set out to Mojave National Preserve for a long overdue adventure.

Total Miles Covered: 395 mi.

There is something abut the deserts that I love, can not put my finger on it precisely, but there is something out here that attracts me...weather, open spaces...solitude...all of the above perhaps? So here I was, back to this beautiful desert...

It took me about six and a half hours to get here, so I was ready to set up my camp for the night and have a cold beer...enjoy the sunset.

Last couple of times I visited this desert, I was the only person camping in the dunes...day trippers came and went, but at night I was the only one. This time the place was full of people...but I had enough space and solitue to enjoy the sunset and moonless night...

Woke up with the sunrise, had a cup of coffee and took off to the Providence Mauntains to explore the unknown lands...

Managed to traverse almost 300 miles of the desert trails today. Stumbled on 3 abandoned mines, did not seen a single soul. Just the way I like it.

Jeep performed flawlesly other than it needs shock upgardes, dust controll and a better way to organize my gear.

Ended my day at the Lava Tubes. Similar and pleasent routine. Set up a camp, make a dinner...have cold beer and enjoy the sunset. It was a long day. 300 miles of destert washed out trails wear you out....

Another moonless night in the desert, away form all the light polution...sleeping on the cot under the stars...what's not to like.

Had some obligations at work, so I had to go home a day early. After packing up the camp, I visited Lava Tubes and slowly found my way out of this beautifull desert...
