HETCH HETCHY

I have ben itching to do a little hiking lately...have ben sitting on the couch all winter long I guess, got rusty and smelly....So early saturday morning I set out to Yosemite National Park...
The park was flooded with people, cars, dogs and babies...! It was almost ridiculous.. so I went to Hetch Hetchy instead ....because it is further up the road, not a lot of tourists goes visiting this man made lake..
It was perfect..! The weather was just right...not that many people...beutifull scenery...
Changed to my old hiking shoes, got my back pack...buck knife, just in case some starving cougar jumps out from the cliff above....and hit the trail..
It is easy 5 mile (round trip) hike from the dam to Wapama Falls.. so I took my time and enjoyed the day...
The Kolana rock was dominating the landscape....back giant rock sticks out like a sore thumb..
First waterfall ....I don't think first two has names....and are usually dry in the summer month...
Second waterfall ...
Just bellow the second waterfall ....water was ice cold and tasted delicious..
The big mama....Wapama Falls...!
The place was roaring...and rumbling...! It was pretty cool...!
I had a hard time to take pictures and keep my camera dry....so here is a couple quick shots...
The best thing about it ....there were no people ....at all....
I was dripping wet from the overspray...so this little rocky spot was perfect to dry my soaked pans and schoes...grab a bite to eat..
Pretty soon I got some company..
After the nice hike and cold beer I headed to to look for a place to ride some dirt roads and pitch my tent for the night..
Found this little tippi...but it was occupied by the big spider and couple of lizzards...short and sweet hello...and I headed up the hill....
Water this year is plentifull....it seems that it's pouring from every hole or crack in the mountain...
Once again had to do some chopping ....I guess I will be the first this year to blaze this road...
The trees were blooming on one side of the road...
...and the snow was holding it's ground on the other side...
After couple of hours I found "the perfect spot"....couple stones made fine fire place...creek next to the site provided plenty of water....so I settled in..
Next morning the sky was gloomy ( I hope I am not making up a new words)...there was a felling and smell of rain in the air..
I continued up the hill ....exploring new side roads....and keeping my one eye on the clouds just above me...
People junk ...makes a god pictures sometimes..( I did picked it up and took with me to dispose properly)....
Some water crossing...as I find out later good spot for gold paning....
...but I did not wanted to be prosecuted to the full extent...so no gold paning here...
As I continued riding down this dirt path...the scenery changed with every curve...here I came up on this beautiful little meadow...
I could build a little log cabin here and retire happily.. sitting all day on the porch and smoking..
Wild flowers along the road...
Here is another natures color splash.
