It was about the time for me to get up from the couch after sitting all winter long and go on the road trip....The central valley is covered in fog these days it's cold and wet up here, the mountains surrounding us are covered in snow...so I headed for a desert...

After riding on the highway 99 for a couple of hours I was more than happy to get on smaller Hwy 155 heading East. The pass still had some snow and it was sure chilly up there....so I treated myself for a cup of hot coffee at Lake Isabella...

I continued riding East on Hwy 178...high desert still had some snow but it was much warmer up here in the middle of the day....

It was really nice to stop and warm up in the sunlite while enjoying views of Joshua trees scattered on the hillsides...

What a strange plants....it is not a cactus or a palm tree ...something in between....

The road was perfect...

But the day is not getting any shorter and I still have a long way to go....

I continued heading East on Hwy 178. The small town of Trona was left behind...and from here on you are on your own....the desert valleys streching in front of you as far as eye can see...

Panamint Valley in the front of me...what a site...! The Death Valley is somewhere behind those mountains on my right and the road to get there is on the other end of this valley....

The day was going to the end...and I shadows were getting longer and longer ....making the mountains look more beautiful...

Most of the road is flat and straight but there was some treat waiting for me on the end...

Around 5:00 pm I reached the destination....but I still had to cross another mountain range to get to the campsite....

Another half an hour and I was in the Emigrant campsite ...I set up the tent and got my dinner cooking...

Around 6:00 pm I was treated with a beautiful sunset over the Cottonwood Mountains.
