RUN FOR SIERRAS

In a past couple of weeks while driving to work I started to see some snow on the top of the Sierras...that's means the passes will be closed soon.
I had three day weekend so I set out for a trip over the Sierras. This probably going to be my last trip to the high country this year.
Tayoga and Sonora Passes were closed due to the rock slides....so I had only one option - Hwy 4 or Ebbetts Pass...
The day was perfect!
My plan was to hop over the Sierras and find some place where I could camp over the night....I had in mind one particular spot I noticed on my last trip over the Monitors Pass...
So here I was rolling down Hwy 89...
What a blast...!
A little dirt road took my to the place I was looking for...not a single soul...perfect...!
Suddenly I realized that camping at 9000 ft at this time of the year could be a little hardcore....so I chickened out and headed down the mountain to the lower elevation....
Found another spot ...by the creak...and once again not a single soul....
Perfect...!
My morning brekfast... awful...! Instant coffee was terrible...meat balls were...disqusting...the only thing I ate was chocolate bar and chewing gum...rest was tossed away...
That is me choking on the instant coffee and cooking some meatballs..
It got a little crispy in the morning but other than that I slept like a bear...
It seems that today is going to be another perfect day...
I was really disappointed that Sonora and Tayoga Passes were closed. I did not had a lot of options but to head back the way I came - Ebbetts Pass...
I stopped at the top of the pass and met several riders that were coming from Stockton. They told me that Sonora Pass was opened yesterday in afternoon. What a great news! I turned around and headed back East to Hwy 395...
I stopped to take more pictures...when the guys from Stockton passed by...
It was early morning so I took my time riding, stopped here and took a lot of pictures....
My black beast...
Monitor Pass...
Here is a photo of the guys from Stockton again ...really nice people ...I exchanged email addresses so we could share some photos...
What a beauty...!
Hwy 108 and U.S.M.C Mountain Warfare Training Center...
What a blast to ride roads like this...!
Not a lot of snow but it's a good start...
It's hard to pay attention on the road when you are surrounded with a views like this...
Once again my black beast....
On the top of Sonora Pass...
On the way home I stopped to explore several side roads...First was Clark Fork Road...8 miles of pawed mountain road that dead ends at this meadow.
Then I found another road ...now that is much better...!
Not much to see but at least fun to ride...!
8 miles later it dead ended at this little meadow. Beyond this sign only on foot...
Back at Clarks Fork road...
Stopped at the bridge to watch some guys fishing...just look at this guy fishing at the cliff...!
They turned out to be really cool guys from Oakland...deer hunting, camping, fishing...we poped couple beers ...talked some trash and swapped some good stories...
It took them like an hour to catch the limit. Some trout was like 15 inches long...that is a pretty good fishing!
So that's it my friends ...until next time....see you on the road...!
