LAKE THOMAS A. EDISON

This weekend my wife's sister came over to scrapbook for the weekend...not sure if any of you know what that thing means but it's like some kind of desease...it could kill you...for those who have no idea what a scrap booking is I'll try to describe it - women, pictures, papers, ribbons, chocolade...big mess in the house...
But I love those weekends ...because I can pack my stuff and go for a ride with no questions asked...! So by 10 am I was on the road leaving behind our hot drying central valley and heading east for the Sierras...
Some other guys got the right idea...and did the same...
Looking back towards the Shaver Lake...and leaving the valley smog and heat behind...
I continued my ride East and half an hour later I was near the Lake Huntington
On the East end of the lake I made a right turn towards lake Thomas A. Edison
After 23 miles of twisted, narrow and bumpy as hell but pawed road I reached my destination...
Lake Thomas A Edison
After scouting the area for a couple of hours and driving up and down the Onion Springs OHV Route I headed back west to visit another lake South of here - Florence lake
Stopped several time to make sure I still have my stuff... I have seen the gravel roads much more smooth that this one...
Could not resist to take several pictures of nature...and share it with you...
About 11 miles later I was on the shore of another beautiful High Sierras lake
There were no people on this lake or around it...what a place...!!!
I went on the bottom of the dam...and actually walked under the Lake Florence not many places you could do that...
The dam that was build in 1927 has several small leaks but other than that it is in perfect condition...
Stalactites...
...and stalagmites indicates that this dam have ben leaking for quite some time
The Florence Lake Dam's multiple arch design allowed engineers to build a strong structure with a minimum of concrete. At 7,327 feet, the new dam attracted the attention of engineers from around the world
The campsite fee by the lake was $17.00 that is a price of full tank of gas and couple cups of morning coffee ...so I drove several miles down the road and found myself a perfect camping spot...
...in the bear country...and free...
So I got my Wall Mart tent up and headed for the local restaurant...
They did not had cold beer so I got fresh ice water....
And tonight's special "Pilots menu"
After fancy dinner I explored area on foot...
Found some interesting stuff around...but no bears...
Next morning I woke up late, the sun was up long time ago...must be fresh air and complete silence...So I packed my stuff and headed West, back to civilization looking for a cup of hot coffee...
Just several miles NW from Lake Florence - Ward Lake...
Still asleep in the morning...
So finally I got to lake Huntington where I got my must have morning coffee. After I walked out of the store my hard stopped for a moment...my bike leaked some kind of fluid ....after closer inspection I determined that fluid came from the four legged creature that was running around and barking on everyone....
On the way home I made several detours through the back country ...where I scoped out some trails for my off road adventure that I'm planning in couple of weeks...
