CLEAR LAKE, OR - GEORGE, WA 498 mi

Once again the morning greeted me with cloudy skies and fog stuck on the tops of pine trees...
Later in the morning the clouds started to disappear and fog retreated in to the dark canyons ...the sun broke up...time for the road trip to continue...
Mt Hood...tall as ever...
Mt Hood as seen from the East..
I have to take a picture of my bike pretty much everywhere I go...
The North side of Mt Hood...
Just got my morning dose of coffe...do you think I'm happy..?
After crossing Columbia River ...the state of Washington greeted me with the high winds..
...tunnels blasted through the mountains..
...beautiful views of Columbian River..
and rail road tracks going left ....
...and Right...
After I turned on road 30 and started heading North the scenery changed again....desolate woods continued for miles ...hours passed and I did not seen a single car..
Finally I figured why...the road 25 to Mt St Helens was closed due to the heavy snow fall...so I had to turn West and use road 504 to get to the park
28 years later after the volcano erupted mud still flowing in river beds, trees or plants are not growing in the blast zone...
Topless mountain still smoking and is still active volcano..

The North side of the volcano that blew off...
After visiting Mt St Helens I headed East to see another giant volcano - Mt Rainier, the top of this mountain at 14,411 ft was covered by clouds..
View of Mt rainier from the White Pass
Just in an hours derive to the East scenery changes again ...welcome to the desert country...
Crazy Horse monument..
Talk about high winds ...I had a hard time to stay on two lane road..
At the end of the day I had a hard time finding campsite. So for $17.00 I rented space in RV park...no fire tonight...
