I did not had a clear idea where I'm going to go on that specific day but I had the Pacific Ocean in my mind.
I was driving South on Hwy1 stoping here and there admiring nice views when I spoted gravel road near by the Bixby Bridge. I checked my map and find out that this is the old Hwy1 and takes you on the little detour before returning back on the main Hwy1. So ofcourse I took the detour.
Looking back towards the ocean. Good by Bixby Bridge.
The road was little dusty but very nice.
This picture I dedicated to my Lithuanian flag that traveled with me many many miles. Later that day when I returned on the main Hgw I noticed that it is missing. It was to late to go back and look for it so I hope some racoon will make worm blanket from it.
Yes, this the way down! Is that awesom or what?
In this picture you can see the bunge coard bearly holding my bag. The flag was tapped to the cord and fell dow wit it.
Self portret. It turned out pretty good.
Back on the Hwy1. That is where I noticed that the flag is missing.
I continued on the Hwy1 down South when I spoted another road going East to the hills. I checked my map and was realy hapy to find out that it is going all the way to Hwy101 near Kings City.
Before I vent too deep in to the hills and lost the reception I called my wife to let here know what's my plan for the trip home and then hit the twisty Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd.
The road vent right thru the active Hunter Liggett Military reservation. At the entry I got visitors pass and was told to stay on the main road and do not take any pictures. It was awesom! There were some helicopters howering above the ground like 20yd from the road, several tanks in the near by hills totaly action! And I was driving right in the middle of it!
I got some gass in the Kings City and continued East on the Kings City Rd. To the Hwy25. From there I took Coalinga Rd. to the Clear Creek Rd.
It is like 12 mi of very ruff road from Coalinga Rd. To the Idrea Mine. The sun was going down fast, my cell was not working and I was worry about my wife Stacie. Usually I'm home by the dark or at least call here. This time I could not do neather of those things.
I continued my trip while darkness was kreeping on my faster then I could drive.
I tryed my cell on this mountain but no such luck. There is Hwy5 way behinde those mountains in the far horizon and that is where I need to go to get the reception. I knew I was in the trouble.
The last glimps of the sun. That is where I came from, thrue all those mountains. I kept driving from this point and did not stop untill Hwy5 where I made a call to Stacie....she was crying...I felt so bad...
